I have become ambivalent with regards to borders.

Central Americans should be given special status for entry into the US. This idea is based upon geographical proximity and overall negative effects of the many US interventions in the Central American region. US owes the region.

Hispanics turned out heavily for Obama in his first presidential run and was to some extent based on his promise of support on immigration.

Obama won with Presidency, Senate and House. However Obama put immigration on the back burner. The next midterm he lost the House!
