Mayorkas impeachment headed toward Senate graveyard
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/...ate-graveyard/

Quote:
The impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is likely to die a quick death in the Senate after the House succeeded in its second attempt to rebuke the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief Tuesday night.

Faced with a potential third impeachment trial in five years, the Senate is likely to avoid the matter entirely. Senators expect Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to move to either dismiss the two articles against Mayorkas or to refer them to the committee level, effectively killing the process.

The Senate returns to work on Feb. 26 and will immediately be faced with having to fund part of the government by the end of that week. Schumer is likely to focus on that issue and not Mayorkas.

“Whether they move quickly to dismiss or bury in committee, I’m not sure. I see no need for the Senate at this point and time, given the fact that we need to, among other things, fund the government, spend any time on this — and there will be plenty of Republicans who agree,” said Jim Manley, a former top aide to former Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid (Nev.).

So the Grift King will be incharge of doling out campaign dollars to candidates he deems worthy? What could go wrong?

This article makes one feel better, especially if you are left leaning and overall depressed about the politics (I am) and the economy (less so).

5 takeaways from Democrats flipping George Santos' House seat in New York

1. Republicans' historically narrow majority got even smaller.
2. Republicans continue to struggle in the suburbs.
3. Democrats showed they can defend themselves on immigration.
4. Abortion rights continue to be something Democrats will run on — with good reason.
5. Candidates — and money — do matter.

As for the economy, seems like its a non factor for now.

A boatload of valuable time and taxpayer money on nothing. Lump's media minions hardly ever mention Hunter Biden these days. Must be a murderous migrant caravan approaching the border or something.

I feel that even if the monster is convicted and jailed, the Frankenstein that created him will still be free to create another. Their quest for power and control did not start with tRump and it will not stop after he is gone. We're in for a long haul to save our democracy.

They may try, but I'm not sure anyone else has that special sauce. Tom Cotton, Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz just don't have that MAGA magic.

Agreed, Trump is the glue that is holding the MAGA morons together. Perhaps he effectively took control of his party. No one can stray away and there will be retributions. Instant turnaround on the Immigration bill proves it, giving up something they wanted, asked and got.

Wisconsin Picks New Legislative Maps That Would End Years of GOP Gerrymandering
Under legal pressure to address Wisconsin’s “Swiss cheese” and oddly shaped districts, the Legislature approved redrawn maps that promise to create a new dynamic in a state known for its pivotal role in national politics.

A possible small step toward ending our long national nightmare.

And the Michigan Republican Party is in a holy mess, infighting, broke and two primaries, two slates.
