French Maths Genius "Scribblings" unveiled.

Last Friday there was an unveiling in France of tens of thousands of handwritten pages of Alexander Grothendiek who is regarded as one of the 20th century's greatest mathematicians.

A friend of mine who is a retired professor of mathematics from one of the very top Ivy League universities was always yapping about Grothendieck.

Now I believe I am getting some clues for some of my friend's bizarre behavior.
He disappeared for a good length of time. His relatives had no clue where he was. He is against banks. So he went on the NY subway, fell asleep, and woke up minus the one hundred and odd thousand dollars he had with him...ouch!
I did not hear from him for some time and out of the blue I got a call asking me to pick him up at the railroad station. I went but at first, I did not recognize him because of his extremely unkempt appearance.

My friend was traveling with boxes of maths papers. The Chrysler 300 I drove at the time barely had space for the boxes. I took him home but members of my household were pretty nervous about this guy. I knew if my wife was alive she would not let him pass the door. He spent about two months with us and eventually was looked at by my household with kind curiosity.
Now who still uses an early-model flip phone? That was one of his prized possessions.
