More irony.

The US is a constitutional republic. It became closer to democracy/mobocracy with the 17th amendment, but it is still a constitutional republic.

In a democracy, our representatives would not vote on bills and our president would not sign them. Rather, the people would vote directly on these laws, as we do at the state level regarding things like referendums. In a democracy, like our states, we vote for governors. In a constitutional republic, like our federal government, the electoral college votes on presidents. That's how we keep large states like California from running roughshod over the smaller states.

States are democracies. The Federal government is a constitutional republic. Have you not yet passed through High School Civics?

BTW, that is why many of us make no excuses that we are "anti-democracy" regarding the federal government.

Being a democracy and a federal republic are not mutually exclusive, despite conservative wishes to strangle our democracy in favor of an autocracy.

Your ability to cling to incorrect inferences from my posts boggles the mind.

I feel like Jordan Peterson being interviewed by Cathy Newman. i.e. "That's not what I said." And your inferences are ridiculous. You don't respond to what I say. You respond to what you imagine what you want me to actually mean and believe. Which is 180 degrees from what I ACTUALLY mean and believe.

I'll not put you on ignore, but until you can understand the actual meaning of the words I use during discussions, and respond to THAT, I'm wasting my time with you.

BTW, I loved "Being There". I've been meaning to tell you that for a very long time.

An 'imposter Christianity' is threatening American democracy

https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/24/us/wh...cec/index.html

Quote:
The insurrection marked the first time many Americans realized the US is facing a burgeoning White Christian nationalist movement. This movement uses Christian language to cloak sexism and hostility to Black people and non-White immigrants in its quest to create a White Christian America.

A report from a team of clergy, scholars and advocates — sponsored by two groups that advocate for the separation of church and state — concluded that this ideology was used to "bolster, justify and intensify" the attack on the US Capitol.
Sounds just like the Insane Clown. Sad.
