Agreed corps can be idiots and the 'prevent layoff' line is lame considering the temps. But what did the workers do?

In a way, we are with the lack of a set pay scale and wages being "negotiated" on an individual basis. Funny thing though; I wasn't aware that "negotiations" were a one way affair, wherein the employer tells you what they think you're worth and you either take it or get lost............

I guess ones worth is a matter of perspective?

What CAN they do, beyond complain and be ignored? Remember; This is a "Right to Bend Over and Take It" state.

They are slaves? I've worked for some awful outfits - but not for long.

No, of course they can leave and people have been. We've lost quite a few people since one of our competitors moved into town.

Which brings up another point; Why treat people this way when you know someone is trying to recruit them away? It makes no sense.

It makes sense to management so encased in their own noxious bubble they think they can motivate workers by telling a little story in which they are supposed to line up to be butchered....

Overall, employers are emboldened by the fact that there are so many desperate unemployed and underemployed people out there willing to eat whatever shit the employer hands them in order to get, or keep their jobs.

The lazy overcompensated bastards just sat in the break room drinking sodas and threatening to strike if anyone asked them to do some work.

Isn't that what you want to hear Pete?

Doesn't that fit nicely into your Ayn Randian worldview?
