Count me in. CU is ridiculous. At that point we might as well just dispense with the democratic process and arrange "nationwide employee meetings" so the CEOs can hand down their decisions directly.
Thank you, Roberts court. You've brought us neoconservatism at it's worst.

In keeping with my commitment to distance myself as much as possible from assholes like you I have proudly added my name to Franken's petition.

I read the petition, and its meaningless. If Franken is serious, craft some legislation, get some co sponsors, and get the process moving. If its well crafted and makes sense, I suspect it would have bi-partisan support.

'Tis but a first step in the process of representational democracy my friend. Get your ducks in a row by soliciting signatures on a petiton to show his fellow legislators that there is a groundswell of support for legislating money out of politics. Then they can go about the business of crafting it. I know it sounds quaint but that's how sausage is made.
Did they not teach Civics Studies in the schools you attended?

I haven't read the book but I have enjoyed his humor for years.

For all the good it could accomplish being it will never go away easily, only after a long hard fight after an election debacle happens not once but once to many.

They did. Petitions like this have the effect of energizing a subset of individuals, but they tend to have little impact on individuals.
Now comes the rub. I'd trust Al Franken to put something like this together about as far as I could throw you. I'd pro'ly say the same for just about any of the inside the beltway crowd. Putting a politician in charge of determining how much money, power and influence comes their way is like putting a fox in charge of the hen house.
