C'mon Pete, howabout you explain to us just how awesome those Bush tax cuts are. What wonderful things happened because of them.

And while you're at it, tells us all about how great that Invasion of Iraq turned out for us too.

In the house 19 Democrats voted for and 171 voted against.

That's 10% for and 90% against.

The final vote was 256-171.

Without the 19 Dem votes the extension would have still passed with ease.

How do you get to "The Dems reuped" from that?

Wanna check the Senate now too, or have you had enough humiliation for one morning?

From Wiki: "In 2012, during the fiscal cliff, the tax cuts were made permanent for single people making less than $400,000 per year and couples making less than $450,000 per year, and eliminated for everyone else, under the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012."

So this compromise was part of the fiscal cliff engineered by the GOP house. Democrats were in the minority and TJ has already posted the voting numbers. Remember "fiscal cliff", repeated as frequently as WMD? Blackmail by the baggered GOP?

One of the key impact of the Bush Tax cut plan was to have the lower income group bear a higher tax burden. Of course when first enacted, it was claimed to be self funding as job creation will spur tax revenues. What we had was a job exodus and tax revenues are lagging and the social services are getting pinched.

That was during the depths of the Bush/Cheney Republican Recession.

The original Bush tax cut added $1.6 trillion to the deficit by 2011. So you blame Obama for not trying to fix it till 2012? You are highlighting the effect and while ignoring the cause.

I am not a big fan of Obama yet I believe due to the intransigent GOP house, his options were limited. Interesting that we all want politicians to compromise and when they do they still get criticized.

In 2010 his options were only limited by Dem control of the House and Senate.

Tom, you're not acknowledging that tax cuts are good for the economy are you?

Pete

Agreed that he should have tried, but would have been a tough uphill battle. So he took one low and outside. Strike 1.
