Fixed that for ya.

Only in Texas would someone whip out a .38 revolver and start shooting because it was finally time to give up the keys to their car.

Not true. I've known not-in-Texas ladies who were sweet caring persons all their life, but their minds got messed up at the end, and they got hateful and tried their best to brain people with their canes. If for some insane reason they'd had guns, they'd have used them.

It's a nasty bit of reality, not fodder for a Texas joke.

Years ago, when I was actively involved, I was trained using a .45 ACP Glock 21 and a Mini-14 in .223.

Now? Departments have moved "up" (although it's the same caliber) to M-16 clones because -- even though they use the same ammunition -- it is now more acceptable to use military style weaponry for distance weapons.

Counter intuitive? They moved backwards to 9mm in handguns because they possess additional magazine capacity.

Most police Forces Are now Known As Para-military units.

I feel that this should never have happened.
But with all the availability of weapons in this country, plus the state of Texas as the location. Add the fact the average enforcement officer see a side of humanity daily most of us hopefully can only guess at. Seeing fellow officers attacked by victims when offender is arrested I could go on with what if's. So what is expected?

Given one thing thou if she did have a gun in her hand the officer could be right. I will let the official investigation play out. Lets face it never be holding a weapon and be face to face with and officer.

This guy might be troubled and that should come out.

I for one think it is a double edge sword with law enforcement. When we want one to be there, they are heaven sent. But most of the other times we see them a big bother, leave me FK alone!

But I don't know if you know it the towns population is 4,500 people. Hardly an environment for high crime when almost everybody know each other.

If she didn't have easy access to a gun, she would probably be alive today.

Yes she would. I really feel for the nephew who she forced through her own actions to call the police. He must be devastated.
