Biden is capable of gaffes, and he is sometimes inartful in how he expresses a legitimate idea, but I think that he has a more fundamental understanding of biology than Missouri's tea party candidate.

I could always send Jumpin' Joe a link to the "Ni@@erize" thread here but some how I really don't think Joe needs any tips from the likes of me.

I've seen Joe in a few interviews where he came across as very intelligent.......but in a kid from Scranton kind of way.
That is to say, smart perhaps, but inarticulate and as blunt as a truncheon.

In defense of his moronic statement on abortion, today he said “We believe taking this stand is going to strengthen our country — going to strengthen, ultimately, the Republican Party. What we’re doing here is standing on a principle of what America is.” These delusional fools will ultimately spell the end of the GOP or the country, whichever comes first.
The end of that party will come first. The nation is here to stay, for a very long time. The notion that this country is dependent on the survival of a singular political party is, to me, absurd at best. Either party could dry up and go to hell, but the nation will survive.

I am sure there were those who thought the demise of the Whig Party was the end of the country. Was it?

Joe Biden is a highly intelligent, skilled politician who, on occasion, allows his passion for a subject or issue to lead him to overstate his case. To suggest that he and Akin belong in the same discussion is more than a bit of a reach.

I see Senator Brown (R) of Massachusets asked the head of the RNC to take the anti abortion language out of the party platform.

With this batch of GOP great minds one can only hope they are reincarnated as a girl in small hut in Yemen!

Couldn't agree more. The VP debates are going to be a good chance to point up the serious deficiencies in the New Republican's stance on this subject alone. The Repubs are in a pickle over this one and the leadership of the party can't be more pissed at this reprehensible House member for dashing their dreams of gaining a majority in the Senate. That's the only objection they really have to Akin letting slip their plans for America. The stench will be on Ryan for being the co-author with Akin on the efforts of the Tea Party to violate women's rights. Notice how he's not backing down from this extreme viewpoint with his so called apology? He's a true believer and this guy aspires to being a U.S. Senator? A poll recently showed 81% don't agree with his views.

I've looked and looked but for some reason can't find Bidens' old 'I'm smarter than you' quote (from memory).
