Now that NATO is wrapping up operations in Lybia, one wonders what the timetable might be to go after Syria. I think that if the opposition gets better organized, and military officers continue to defect, NATO will jump in.

If so, is the new role of NATO going to be regime change?

Works for me if they do it as effectively as they did in Libya.

OTOH, I don't (yet) foresee their involvement there. Regime change in Syria would certainly change the complexion of things in Lebanon and Israel though, maybe even Iran.

"And if you re-elect me to be your President, I promise one brutal dictator a month for six months!"

The Tea Hatters are just pissed because his way is working so much better than their way.

We bring you peace.

I suspect that overt aid in Syria is a mistake.

I think there's a lot to this. The GOP's mantle of the "Party of National Security" is being whittled down by the apparent effectiveness of Obama's policies in the Mideast.

Can you imagine the triumphant muscle-flexing the GOP would be doing now if their President accomplishes what Obama (helped) accomplish in Libya? They'd dress the entire Cabinet in codpieces and have them prance around on a carrier deck.

The Iraqi drawdown started before Bush left office ya'know.

Obama is the Sith lord!

Sorry, had to get it out. If a GOP Pres was bombing Libya the left would still be saying 'They didn't attack us!', 'We're killing civilians!', 'No blood for oil!', 'Bush lies, people die!', etc.

Now, bombing is a virtue.

That doesn't change the fact that Republicans would be dancing triumpantly (codpieces and all) if a GOP President accomplished what Obama did in Libya.
