I am totally with you on this. Lest we forget, this is what we are up against.

A Shaheed (martyr) is a follower of Muhammad who dies in the service of expanding the domain of 'Islam' against any and all those who do not believe in "Allah and His messenger Muhammad".

What difference does it make whose side we are on. It's who we are up against.

You know them AlQuesedilla people are enjoying the shit out of all the partisan attacks over these idiotic M.E. policies we have. I'm sure it makes good recruiting press to show the discord. Besides the torturing and such.

?????

At risk of dragging things kicking and screaming back to somewhere akin to the original question, following the result of the debate in Parliament what do you all think of the U.K. Government?

Having just skimmed the news out of the U.K. moments ago, I suppose I think that this time, just enough people appear to have learned from past mistakes.

I have always liked the British government ever since Clement Atlee brought in National Health care. That being said, it is ironic that a Labor government joined in on war against a nation without WMDs, and now a Conservative government cannot bomb a dictator with actual wmds. Yes Iraq was a big mistake. It would be something if these chemical weapons found their way into the hands of extremists on either side, because of the fear of a war 10 years ago started on the basis of preventing just that.

I think they've made the right decision.

I am game for what the rest of the world/UN thinks should be done and that everybody does their part in whatever that ends up being. What I understand that the UK position is pretty close to the same, to wait for UN results before acting against Assad?

I sort of do not want Obama to strike because the Tea Party will use that as an excuse to try and impeach him. And this thing is far from over.

at best
1. Assad has chemical weapons
2. He or his generals are willing to use them with or without command control. The latter situation would be a deterioration of the security situation in the Middle East.
3. The jihadist element could eventually gain control of them.

it is most def not over. But like Chas says Obama should wait and take some criticism rather than act unilaterally.
