My take, if he would've simply exposed domestic spying policies he would've been a whistleblower, and I am glad he did. But he had to expose our international spying. As interesting as it was it makes him a traitor imo. It was stupidity on his part and he'll pay for it the rest of his life.

Respectfully, I don't believe this sort of idealism can exist in government outside of a vacuum.
Since the inception of the Constitution -- an imperfect document stolen from American Indians (in part) I might add -- it has been ignored during periods of great need, stress, efficiency or subversive global strategy.
I don't mind that.
I mind it being done if/when none of those conditions demanding expediency or focus exist.
1. You want the War on Terror?
2. You get Constitutional evasion.
This surprises anyone?

Of course, it would be naive to believe these things don't, can't happen. That's not the point The point is to recognize that they will always happen and that, unless they're exposed, we will be giving our tacit acceptance of the erosion of our civil liberties. Sooner or later, our constitution and our laws would become "quaint" and anachronistic. We would, in any meaningful sense, have no rights.
As George W. Bush is supposed to have said, the Constitution is "just a god-damned piece of paper."

Unsupported but beloved by the left. I agree regarding the Constitution, as a matter of fact it's been dead for many years.

Slavery killed it - it was birthed defective. Our own fault.
Plus both parties find it inconvenient at one point or the other, and we are too apathetic to really care. Franklin was right.
