How a racist hate-monger masterminded America’s War on Drugs

Harry Anslinger conflated drug use, race, and music to criminalize non-whiteness and create a prison-industrial complex

Donny's playbook, too. Nothing has changed, sadly.

I ran into a bunch of dipshits who voted for Trump because they think he's going to legalize marijuana..... Actually, they believe it's the GOP that that's been pushing for legalization because; "Everybody knows it's Republicans that want more freedom.".

I told them that if they ever see Republicans seriously pushing drug use, it would be because their attempts at brainwashing us with religion and nationalist fervor have failed and they're resorting to chemical means.

Stupid MF'ers.

Significantly expanded during the Reagan Administration. There are too many criminals in America. We're the most criminalized nation on Earth.

This is too depressing. Going outside now to break the law.

This brings to mind an entry from The Onion’s “Timeline of Marijuana Legalization”:

1969: President Nixon urges strong anti-marijuana legislation as part of his signature “War on Blacks” initiative.

Funny because it’s true?

Anyone paying attention or in the groups involved already knew this to be so.
Stated many of times to deaf ears over the years.

Them that have not been paying attention or cared little, this news will have no effect.

William Randolph Hearst and Irene Dupont each played major roles in making marijuana illegal.

Hearst did it to sell newspapers, Dupont did it to bolster the market for long strand synthetic fibers.
