Yeah west coast sound referred to speakers as well but with a definite different meaning.
The west coast sound emanating from San Francisco and Los Angeles from such players as Mulligan and Chet Baker brought a lot of white people in the jazz tent.
It was a sound devoid of speed and stress more like one which envisions lemonade under the shade. It was also a sound which I personally felt to be cloying but in the long run it saved jazz because of the influx of white fans.
Some black musicians got the clue and adjusted their sound.
I noticed you have been playing a lot of Jethro Tull.
So I went to Youtube and found the entire album "
Thick As A Brick"
