More Cheney-Halliburton cronyism...
Just when you would think there couldn't possibly be yet another example of how Cheney used his position to benefit his old company, the one he almost bankrupted as CEO, it turns out that he facilitated loopholes to allow natural gas fracking companies, like oh for example, Halliburton, to be exempt from clean water act regs...

This is yet another environmental disaster in the making. but hey, Natural gas companies like Halliburton will profit, so its worth it.

Why do you insist on being a monkey on the businessmans back? What do you have against Freedom? Why do you hate America? Are you a communist, baby killing, Atheist, fag lover?
Sorry, Nooner, I just had a "wingnut" moment.
Doesn't suprise me at all. Profit and the advancement of corporatocracy is all that matters to these people.

Yeah, I knew about that. There's an HBO documentary about this airing tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Here's a WaPo article about it.

You know, I've always wondered about this. Ad Cheneys Halliburton to the list of companies that GW wrecked, or nearly destroyed, and it paints an interesting picture. I wonder how many other Republican-run businesses can be found in the corporate graveyard?

Kinda like the point someone on another board made to me.
He asked:
"Where did the GOP come from?"
"I dunno."
"Why the industrial upper Midwest. So, maybe the turning to Blue of this region was a reaction to something?"

Hmmmm?

There was a feature article on fracking in the monthly publication of the Isaac Walton League of which I'm a member. This is hardly a left-wing environmentalist wacko group, but a sportsman's group involved in conservation, hunting, fishing and the shooting sports. They were outspoken against fracking and the legislative/regulatory shenanigans involved in removing the hurdles to allow energy companies to rape the land (and groundwater) with this process. Reading into what was involved in this type of extraction, it's downright nasty.
I think John Prine needs to write a song about this akin to the song "Paradise" off of his first album (the one about Peabody coal).

Oh, daddy, won't you take me back to Northampton County
On the Delaware River where Paradise lay.
I'm sorry, my son, but you're too late in askin'.
Mr. Cheney's damn pipeline has blown it away.

I thought fracking took place thousands of feet below the water level.

I thought fracking was what they did on Battlestar Galactica because they couldn't use the other word on television.
