Conservative or Liberal?

Which one - if any - are you? Why? Have you always been?

Also, I'm curious to know, from what you've seen, what do you guys consider me to be?

I fully expect that the center in England is a far different place than the center here.

I have no idea what you are, but I was a card carrying member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. There are a few conservative down here, a whole gaggle of Libertarians, but mostly moderates. We have one member from Vermont, or is it New Hampshire, who says he is a socialist, but most Americans would not recognize a socialist if one bit them on the arse.

Only if you use the American definition of Progressive, being a conservative does not mean living in a cave. Frex, although it was done by the Liberals under Pearson the Conservatives never thought of repealing Single Payer healthcare. Realizing that the people are the country's single greatest resource they know that you put resources to good use. To do that you look after them. They know that it is not an "entitlement" but a sound "investment". Only a fool would think otherwise.

I didnt realise I was using the American definition. I thought that "progress" meant "to change something" and I thought that "conserve" meant "to keep something the same"?

Obviously I recognise that you can have socially progressive parties that are in other ways conservative. I just thought that the wording was kind of funny. A bit like being a member of the Authoritarian Libertarian Party

I'm a centrist with a healthy dose of disgust for our GOP for about the past 10 years. In many ways, I support what they say they're for. The trouble is that I'm not convinced they support what they say they're for. Plus their tactics/rhetoric leave me cold, to say the least.

I'm a right leaning Libertarian. D-ray told me so and I'm sticking with it!

Which is what I meant when I said "you don't have to live in a cave" Basically we just believe that you don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. We also believe that goood ideas are good ideas, no matter where they come from, unlike most here.
