NJ minimum wage increases to $8.25

Christie vetoed it so it went on the ballot and passed.

That's a nice rebuke to Christie.

I imagine that the NJ taxpayers were tired of proping up Wally World and Home Despot

OMG, those poor business owners. Now, they're going to have to eat their own children.

One of the reasons why I came to PC was that some moron at AK did not think that Subway (not the BART) should pay workers more than the minimum wage in DOWNTOWN
San Francisco. Shit that place is tre expensive. Somebody gave me a lecture about the evils of the minimum wage then went on to say how they liked going to eat at Subway.
Cheapo

many times I give an extra dollar at the tip jar there...if it is out.

Christie got re-elected by reaching across the aisle and doing the right thing with Sandy victims, andf now he doesn't need to anymore. Now it is bringing his smoke and mirror economic policies front and center in order to run in 2016.

Good article in a recent NYT.

Quote:
But in four years in office, Governor Christie, a Republican, has relied on the same kind of short-term strategies, diverting money for things like affordable housing and property tax rebates to balance the budget, and tapping funds intended for development of new sources of energy to keep the lights on in state buildings.

Mr. Christie made headlines when he declared he was canceling construction of a tunnel under the Hudson River to halt runaway costs, but he has issued more debt for transportation projects than any of his predecessors. Overall spending has risen 14 percent, and while state surpluses nationwide are growing, New Jersey’s has shrunk to its lowest percentage in a decade. The state’s bond rating is among the worst in the country.

I think he has been getting his advice from Arnold.
