"More" affordable---Yes.

So, previous rate increases were more "affordable" to you?

Let's see; What would be the figure with annual rate increases of ~23% after nine years...............................

Same here. I guess I'm supposed to bitch about it. Why? I don't know.

That is much lower than the increases of a few years ago. I am sure we could have probably received lower rates if we wanted to increase the deductible to more than 500/1500. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the increase is due to the policy having to cover more services than it used to because of the ACA.
FYI - because your renewal is December 1, your group policy is actually avoiding the premium impact of the requirements for minimum essential coverage, increased taxes and fees, and community rating. If your company's renewal date was January 1, you'd have seen the premium impact of those changes in the paperwork you received. As it stands now, you'll not see that impact until your December 2014 renewal.

Care to make a wager on that? Believe it or not there are still some great small companies and owners out there that treat their employees well. I can't speak for employees of mega-corporations as I have never worked for one, but all three of my major long term employers have been small, family owned businesses and the owners understand that if you want good people you have to treat them right.

Not sure if mine is a mega corp but it's fairly large and worldwide. Our's is staying the same as it was last year. No paperwork or anything to do unless you FSA or the like that need renewed....

Most small successful businesses will have a majority of long term employees. They are not only extremely valuable, but almost always irreplaceable. Knowledge of the industry, customer base and company culture is most essential for our success, since employees manage themselves. I am amazed that our people only call in sick when they are really sick, even though they get paid sick leave. Most small business will put their employee welfare first after meeting the customer demands.

During our recent trip up north, I was toying with the idea of dropping by your offices but I spied one of those neon green crosses in a window down in San Jose. I can't remember much of the rest of that day except that the rum cake was very tasty with fresh picked blackberries.
Sorry we missed you Rajoo.

Rajoo has been in our shop once to pick up a turntable. Doesn't look like much when you walk in, but it is a nice place to work and we have a good niche market.
