Folks before to long the cost of repair will be to much for society to absorb.

The damages will be to devastating and frequent along with being so wide spread. That keeping up will become impossible.

Look for insurance to become a different animal in near future. One that will price out many from repairing damage once an event occurs. The deducible and covered damages hampering the abilities of the owner to afford the out of pocket. Choosing to walkaway from the property and any loan or equity.

Farmers just bailed out of Florida......

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/farmers...100000-people/

From the article;

"Farmers becomes the fourth major insurer to pull out of Florida in the past year, as the state's insurance market looks increasingly precarious amid a growing threat from extreme weather."

Followed shortly thereafter by AAA bailing from the Florida property insurance market.

That would be a lukewarm policy, consistent with a lukewarming planet.

And here is a nonsensical comment.

Quote:
Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, who oversees the insurance regulator, tweeted on Monday that if Farmers pulls out, "My office is going to explore every avenue possible for holding them accountable."
Accountable for what?

They are a private business and one of the best in the insurance industry and no one can be forced to do business in a state if they don't want to. Yes, same in California, especially with soaring home values in the Bay area, very few insurance companies are willing to take the risk. Or they cap the amount insured and with designated open spaces, fire risk is everywhere.

We have owned a house (non rental) in South Lake Tahoe for about thirty years and within the last two years, no insurance company will insure for fire. So CA established an insurance syndicate CA Fair plan and they offer a very basic fire insurance which is not very inexpensive either, but is a necessity.

Conservatives, on principle, think free enterprise should be free of government interference. It's fascists, who have no principles, who think they can punish anyone who crosses them.

This story is truly revealing of the GOP corruption. A Saudi company leases land in Arizona with no limits on water extraction, yes its extraction since it is a gusher, to grow alfalfa to feed the Royal cows. Yet the state spent millions of $'s looking for voting corruption when there was none. And Arizona is in an unrecoverable drought. Of course, the land is being leased at around 1/5th the cost.

How a Saudi firm tapped a gusher of water in drought-stricken Arizona

Lax rules let the foreign-owned company pump water from state land to grow alfalfa for the kingdom’s cattle. After almost a decade, the deal is in jeopardy.

Its in jeopardy because the new Dem administration is looking into cancelling their lease in 2024. Still wonder why they gave $2B to the Shady Kushner.
