Translation: It's not that Obama's black (but don't forget... he is black). It's just that he's an amoral toady who tries to ingratiate himself with the powerful while pretending to hold them in contempt so as not to alienate the proles.

Whether or not this was good doesn't negate that there was an interaction between the two. On the other front, a succession of democratic congresses continued to create more and more programs to help the poor. Sadly, a high percentage of blacks were in the group benefitting from these programs. The dynamic here in California with our large hispanic population may shed some light on the matter in the near future. My point is that there is more going on than some nefarious racist plot perpetrated by republicans 30-40 years ago.
Good points!

You should eschew obfuscation while espousing elucidation.

Feel free to copy and paste and use - just don't quote, as I am not really sure I said what I thought I was saying.

No they're not. They're LOUSY points.

Here's the real test;

Find me a Klan member that votes Democratic. I'm pretty sure you'll have a tough go of it.

I live in the south. A lot of the fine white folks 'round here hated Obama the day they laid eyes on him, especially the older ones. But, to be fair, it's not just the south. I know plenty of bigots in Ohio who were pro-labor Democrats right up to the day Barack came to dinner. Then, they started buying guns-n-ammo and making jokes about growing watermelons on the Whitehouse lawn.................

I remember my nephew commenting....."Uh, oh. There's a porch monkey in the Whitehouse. The shits gonna hit the fan now!"

But, it was all about the policies, you know, the bad ones that they don't like....whatever they are.

Regards,
Dave

"TJ"? Thaddeus Jerkwad? This one isn't from Jefferson either. It's from GF (Gerald Ford). So, you replace one bogus quote with another bogus quote? I hope you didn't pay much for that book of "Jefferson quotations".

There you go again....

http://www.loc.gov/rr/rarebook/coll/130.html

While many of the Jefferson books were lost in the Library fire of 1851, the remaining volumes have been assembled as a unit in the Rare Book and Special Collections Division. Many books bear Jefferson's ownership markings as well as the original Library of Congress bookplates and classification. The contents of the entire 1815 purchase were reconstructed by E. Millicent Sowerby and described in a five volume set entitled which is now made available digitally.
