Good luck on him getting two-thirds of each house.
It does not appear that Jack Smith is going to indict him for sedition or seditious conspiracy, preferring less novel charges with greater certainty of conviction.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—After the special counsel Jack Smith brought new charges against Donald J. Trump, political experts agreed that the former President is but a few indictments away from clinching the Republican nomination.

With felony counts in the double digits, Trump is well ahead of his closest rival, Ron DeSantis.

Harland Dorrinson, a prominent G.O.P. pollster, said that, “for today’s Republican voter, felony counts confer instant credibility, and, by that measure, no other candidate comes close to Trump.”

He added that the pressure is on DeSantis “to get indicted for something—and fast.”

“There’s a chance that he could be charged with human trafficking for transporting migrants from the Mexican border to Martha’s Vineyard,” Dorrinson said. “But that indictment might be too little, too late.”

While that may serve to show that the rule of law applies even to a former president, it's shortsighted in that it does nothing to protect our democracy.

I think there's a very real chance for Trump to win the 2024 election if third party candidates take away enough votes from Biden. Repubs have proven to be very tribal, and a large percentage of non-Maga Repubs will vote for Trump.

An acquittal would be way worse.

A reader comment on Yahoo, handle is Z.

The Pope and trump are standing on stage in front of a large crowd.

The Pope says to Trump, “Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and for the rest of their lives whenever they speak of this day, they will rejoice!”

Trump replies, “I seriously doubt that, with one wave of your hand? Show me!”

So the Pope slapped him.

Voting is like driving.

And this is truly sickening. Over $40 million in legal fees defending Trump and some of his co-defendants by his PAC. To date this PAC has spent around $56 Million and this is just the beginning and most of the money coming from small donors.

My question is why isn't he spending how own money? Good news is that so much money will be spent defending him that he will have little left for his campaign. Also a lot of this money is coming based on the BIG LIE.

Wrong, Repubs don't give a shit that Trump is a criminal, convicted or not. All they care about is having power.

Of course it’s a grift. Make Donny pay his legal bills out of his own pocket. That’ll really sting!
