I read the actual article at Slate. It's pretty good. I'd like to see though, what kind of scientists were polled.

Pete
And the President that inspired us all to show the world what great things Americans are capable of and send a man to the moon was a...............Tight-wad Republican who poo-poos science?

Naw. It was JFK. A Democrat. What is that place in Houston called? The Nixon Space Center? Naw, that would be the "Johnson Space Center". Hmmmmmm...........

Wouldn't concrete be pretty heavy to take to the moon?

Pete we need to get you some gloves marked Left and Right, your thumbs would ensure they go on the correct hands.

Apparently this is the survey on which this thread is based.

http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=1549

It's quite involved, draw your own conclusions.

Maybe we should combine a couple of these recent studies and see how many scientists watch Fox News.

The fifth chart down reveals what would have been my guess about why scientists are less likely to agree with the GOP. It shows that a vast majority of scientists believe that corporations do not properly balance maximizing profit and serving the public interest. I would have expected scientists to be less interested in making great sums of money than industrialists.
