Another 214K Jobs and a Jobless Rate of 5.8%

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...rcent/?hpid=z1

October posts another good month under President Obama's leadership.

214,000 jobs and 5.8% unemployed.

"The U.S. is on pace for its sharpest year of labor market expansion in 15 years after another month of robust job growth, according to government data released Friday, in the latest reassuring sign about the pace of the economic recovery.
With 214,000 jobs added in October, the unemployment rate ticked down to 5.8 percent, the lowest level in six years, even as more workers entered the job market.
The latest data suggests that the slow march out of the Great Recession is gaining traction and stands in noted contrast to a wave of discontent that helped Republicans sweep a round of midterm elections this week. Though wage growth has been sluggish in recent years, Americans — helped by falling oil prices — are seeing their purchasing power rise while jobs come back." WaPo

Just in time for the GOP to start claiming they were responsible for it.

Ya think? They'd never stoop so low.

I just heard that it was the longest stretch of monthly job growth over 200K since 1995.

I have a close friend, a die-hard republican who truly believes that the economic boom under President Clinton is a direct result of economic policies enacted by Reagan. Not even open for discussion, that's how deep his conviction is.

That's not surprising. Every single Republican believes that way.

The only modern Repub president since Lincoln, (that I know of) who did some real good for the country was Ike. Every one since has been a poser or a bumbling fool. GHWB was essentially a good man far out of his depth.

He was less out of his depth than Obama, IMHO. Plus, he had an excellent cabinet. His son, OTOH ...

Aside from Watergate, Nixon wasn't a complete fuck-up (though this reminds me of the phrase "Other than that, how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln?")

Does our Whell believe this? Or do I need to take your word for it?
