Twice this week (at a funeral and this morning's service) I heard the Hymn "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee." The tune comes from Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." That inspired me to pull out Beethoven's ninth. Unfortunately, it came from a mono set of all of Beethoven's symphonies. My system, particularly my turntable, is not set up for mono. The sound quality was awful. I'm going to have to dig out another version - I have Previn Conducting the London Symphony Orchestra somewhere around here.
Regards,
D-Ray

I have three different versions
one a sort of gray market bootleg cd I bought in Okinawa in 1990 ( I think it is a Van Karajan)
at work I have a Deutsche Grammaphon LP box set of Beethoven's symphonies
I have the Leonard Bernstein factory reel also
I have only listened to it about 3-4 times since 1990 lol
