Fortunately, I found another album stuffed in the same sleeve - Joe Pass - "Ira , George and Joe, Joe Pass Loves Gershwin." Nice clean guitar.
Speaking of clean guitar, now spinning Albert Collins - Ice Pickin'

This looks like the ensemble he had when I saw him.

Suppose I should be listening to DSOTM, but didn't think about it until now.

Talked me into it.
Checking the sound on a pair of speakers with non original tweeters (Technics SB-7000A).

Very enjoyable concert tonight. Kansas City has built a top-notch performing arts center. Tonight, the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra performed there in a tribute to Harlem's Cotton Club. The musicians are not household names, but they are very talented. It was a big band show with music from Duke Ellington, Harold Arlen, Jimmy McHugh, Cab Calloway and others. One singer particularly impressed me; his name is Ron Gutierrez. My jaw dropped when he started singing. He had a voice reminiscent of Old Blue Eyes.
It is striking to me how much high quality musical talent there is that is not well known at all. I should not, however, be too surprised to see such a collection of it in Kansas City. After all, Kansas City has been the home of its share of famous jazz musicians, Count Basie, Charlie Parker, Joe Turner and others.
Man, I gotta get out more. There is too much good music out there to hang out at home so much.
Regards,
D-Ray
