As someone who has always been prone to getting down in the mouth, a couple of ideas.

Listen to what you're telling yourself. If you catch yourself thinking about how bad the situation is, change your train of thought. Controlling your mind is half of the battle, if not the whole battle.

Remember, if business is off 40%, 60% is still out there. Concentrate on the 60%.

Go out every day and apply for five jobs. Apply for any job that you can bear. If you get a chance to make 20 bucks, take it. If you're out there trying to help yourself, you'll be amazed at the people who will help you to do it.

I know it's lame, but read "The Power of Positive Thinking". It will help you get your mind right.
