People Can Change

I guess this is a current event because I just had the aha moment today. I've never been against gay couples being married, but did harbor some disgust, especially for the male gays. I've been working on a little stereo today and listening to Queen. I took a break and when I leaned back in my chair, I noticed my Queen poster on the wall. Freddie Mercury was gay right, so if I like his art this much, why would I be down on him for his sexuality. His sexuality is none of my damn business and I should just feel lucky that he chose to share his art with me. So, if it's good for Fred, it's good for all in my book.

I am however still against abortion if one man gets another man pregnant.

There might be hope for Kansas yet.

The couple that my wife & I have been close to the longest are Lesbians. We've been hanging out with them for 25 years.
They have nothing to do with pushing an agenda & politically are very conservative because they just are. They couldn't care less about politics.
I still turn bright red when they talk about their intimate moments on vacation & stuff...LOL!

I believe this sort of thought to be part of the overall problem, respectfully.

Desiring to be free to love whom you love (equally) is not an "agenda."

To them it is.

Shouldn't they have the right to marry Jay & DJ?

Everyone is entitled to an epiphany on occasion. Congrats Jay.

Well, thank goodness we didn't have to rely on Barry Manilow to convince you.

Then again, it's always nice to catch a little Grace Slick, Debby Harry or Linda Ronstadt from their peak years to realize which side my bread's buttered on.

Regards,

D-Ray

I have a cousin that is a lesbian and has been in a long term relationship with her partner for at least 25 years.

I have a brother-in-law that is gay and has been in a long term relationship with his partner for even longer.

These are four of the finest human beings I know plus they are loads of fun to hang out with.

My best friend in school was the redneck son of a north Florida dirt farmer and he was a terrible bigot back in the day.

He went to college then graduate school and ended up with a PHD and is now a liberal.

Another good friend of mine was a card carrying member of the Klu Klux Klan when I first met him as a co-worker back in 1976.

He'd come in Thursday morning after his Wednesday night meetings with "the boys" and he'd be all ramped up and ranting and raving about "those colored Devils" as he would call them.

Then he started taking night classes at the local junior college when the state started this program of paying for them for State Employees.

It took him 8 years but he eventually got a degree in Anthropology.

Along the way he ditched the Klan and became practically a hippie.

I think so, why not? I had a lesbian dispatcher once who had a cute little blonde girlfriend. This was way back when I could still get a girl and I used to tease her about setting her friend "straight". She'd get mad as a wet hen, and I'd get all the crappy service calls. They came out here several times for dinner and such, and we always had a good time.
