It's just a mask
From an email that gets to the point of why it's not "just a mask".
It’s just a mask.
It’s just six feet.
It’s just two weeks.
It’s just non-essential businesses.
It’s just non-essential workers.
It’s just a bar.
It’s just a restaurant.
It’s just to keep from overwhelming the hospitals.
It’s just until the cases go down.
It’s just to flatten the curve.
It’s just a few inmates.
It’s just to keep others from being scared.
It’s just for a few more weeks.
It’s just church. You could still pray.
It’s just prayer.
It’s just until we get a vaccine.
It’s just a bracelet.
It’s just an app.
It’s just for tracing.
It’s just to let people know you’re safe to be around.
It’s just to let others know who you’ve been in contact with.
It’s just a few more months.
It’s just some more inmates.
It’s just a video.
It’s just a post.
It’s just an email account.
It’s just for protecting other from hate speech.
It’s just for protecting others from hurt feelings.
It’s just a large gathering but for protests.
It’s just a few violent protests.
It’s just a little micro chip.
It’s just a blood test.
It’s just a test.
It’s just a scan.
It’s just for medical information.
It’s just to store a vaccination certificate.
It’s just like a credit card.
It’s just a few places that don’t take cash.
It’s just so you can travel.
It’s just so you can get your driver’s license.
It’s just so you can vote.
It’s just mail-in voting.
It’s just a few more years.
It’s just a statue.
It’s just a monument.
It’s just a building.
It’s just a song.
It’s just a lyric.
It’s just an anthem.
It’s just a few words.
It’s just a piece of paper.
It’s just a book.
It’s just a movie.
It’s just a TV show.
It’s just a cartoon character.
It’s just a piece of cloth.
It’s just a flag.
It’s just a dog.
It’s just a clump of cells.
It’s just a fetus.
It’s just a religion.
It’s just a holiday.
It’s just the people who don’t think like we do.
It's just a boxcar.
Well..... maybe it’s not just a mask.

Ridiculous slippery slope argument. The progression is fantasy, nothing actually links masks to any of it.

It's actually a very valid slippery slope argument. How much there has already happened? That's the point.
It's why I thought it was comical when people thought I was just being selfish because I was being inconvenienced by wearing a mask. Fact is, it's a lot easier to just shut up and wear one. But the principle that is being violated is far more important than the silly masks anyway. Hence, a lot of americans refuse to wear a mask.
BTW, our governor just mandated them. And then it was smacked down almost immediately by a judge.
And some leftists claim that Trump thinks he is above the law.

There is no such thing as a valid slippery slope argument.
Here a definition of it, as a fallacy, on a university philosophy department site. You know, that bastion of elite liberalism, Texas State: https://www.txstate.edu/philosophy/r...ery-Slope.html

So here is what that means to me: We should not have called the list a slippery slope argument because it contains actual evidence in the line items themselves that have actually happened.
This whole thing is about questioning authority and its motives. I swear, kids today don't even understand what the words, "question authority" even mean. Scott Adams explains why you stop believing everything you hear in the press as you age and acquire experience in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac8OOeaIgFo&t=706s
It's long so I suppose most won't watch it. But it covers it. BTW, the title is "How to Fail at Almost Everything".
And on a side note, these Hoover Institute interviews with Peter Robinson are usually really good.
And try to watch more George Carlin routines.

I have always told my kids to "think for yourself, question authority".

Funny you should mention him of all people. This one stands out.
"When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy Shit!
But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is fucked up.
Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the résumé of a Supreme Being. This is the kind of shit you’d expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would’ve been out on his all-powerful ass a long time ago. And by the way, I say “this guy”, because I firmly believe, looking at these results, that if there is a God, it has to be a man.
No woman could or would ever fuck things up like this. So, if there is a God, I think most reasonable people might agree that he’s at least incompetent, and maybe, just maybe, doesn’t give a shit. Doesn’t give a shit, which I admire in a person, and which would explain a lot of these bad results."

I take it back. It's not even a slippery slope argument, until you get to the ridiculous last item. It's a propaganda list, deceptively leading one to think things are related that are not. The things are things conservatives don't like, and the descriptions are often loaded dishonestly. You say things exist, but many of them don't Those scary chips, for example.
"It's just a..." is of course a bogus stand-in for actual reasons for this or that that might exist. By repetition, it denies that any such reasons exist, which is dishonest manipulation.
