Bobby, always the critic but seldom offering any competing ideas of input of his own.

It's not a Hobson's choice, sir. Restrict access to oil and you impact the availability and price of all products that are dependent on oil and the refinining process. Actions have consequences. If you disagree, then show me alternatives that are cost effective in today's market.

Or a picture of his Prius.

Hobson's nags have nothing to do with this - there's all that coal just waiting to be dug.

You're the one who said it was disrespectful of veterans. I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion as you are apparently not a veteran yourself.

On the other hands most of the real veterans, such as myself and a number of other liberals, didn't feel offended in the least. So in the end Whell, you were exposed for the right wing troll that you are.

Yeh, but it's worth it if it makes the driver feel morally superior.

Look, dummy, this is about fuels, not lipstick, though I know that must be a hugely important consideration for your Friday nights.

Nobody, at least nobody here, is saying that we should leave all the rest of the world's supply of oil in the ground. There are, as you point out, other uses for petroleum besides fuels. Many of them don't devastate our planet the way fossil fuels do.

On the other hand, there are viable alternatives to petroleum as a raw material in the manufacture of many of the (bolded) items on your list. It's possible for intelligent people to pick and choose the things we use oil for and the ways in which we use it... and do so in a responsible fashion. Burning it isn't one of those.

John

And uranium too! Hell, if we can make a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, we can definitely make a nuclear powered car!
