Avatars, What is yours?

Mine is a photo of a "Hooverville" near Seattle, circa 1934-35.

I chose it, because it seems appropriate.

I thought you were younger than that.

p.s. I imagine that at least three quarters of the posters here are old enough to know who's in my avatar. He has run for President more than Ralph Nader and William Jennings Bryan combined. After hearing some internet security stories on NPR, I had second thoughts about having photos of my wife and sons in my avatar.

Possibly the only really successful coal fired steam turbine locomotive ever. According to the write up, it was designed to haul 1000 tons at 100 mph. Can you imagine what it must have been like standing trackside as one of these things hurtled past? Link's below.

At the time that picture was taken of Sir John he probably was about my age, sneaking up on 79 in a lttle over a month.
