The danger of the single story.

I saw this the other day and jumped up going A-HA! scaring the crap out the wife

Ties into the 'truth is a multifaceted jewel' theory

Still a great reminder for me. It's not very long.

Thanks, Pete. I'll watch that later on TV.

Ted TV is a free channel via the Roku box. So are a lot of other channels, some of them good, some of them not. You can also stream Netflix and Hulu for free (if you already have an account - each is $7.99/mo.).

I get a stream though my bluray player and much of TED is on Netflix, for now anyway.

My connection speed won't allow full hd uninterrupted though.

I wish TED in Cleveland was more active, I'd go, but I suppose we're not a hub of intellectual activity!

"Rashomon" is also a good movie on the topic of truth. It takes one set of observations and multiple people give their perspective.

Here I sit in Southern California pitying you poor culturally deprived Ohioans and you pop up with this? Thanks. What did your wife think of it?

Here's something that dovetails nicely into her narrative regarding the perils and pitfalls of the single story.

Ahhh, Kurosawa's movie with Toshiro Mifune. It reminded me of this old story.

Then there is this...
"Six blind elephants were discussing what men were like. After arguing they decided to find one and determine what it was like by direct experience. The first blind elephant felt the man and declared, "Men are flat." After the other blind elephants felt the man, they agreed."
